ACADEMY PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Academy is a program for players in grades 6th-12th. Academy is offered in Winter and Summer. Winter focuses on skill development of skills and repetitions of basic and advanced skills. The winter program is skills-based with an emphasis on getting a lot of touches, footwork, body position, passing/receiving, individual defense, attacking skills, shooting, and more. Small-sided games will also be utilized to enhance the opportunity to get a lot of touches on the ball in tight spaces. The summer session is small-sided game play that will continue to focus on the development putting skills to work under pressure in game-like situations. Two age group offerings: 6th-8th and 9th-12th.

WINTER ACADMEY REGISTRATION LINK

Windy City FH will group athletes based on experience, friend requests, and school. Athletes are allowed to register for more than one Academy Option in the winter season. Programs are non-refundable.

Windy City Field Hockey Winter Academy has two age group offerings:

Middle School Academy (MSA) 6th-8th graders
High School Academy (HSA) 9th -12 graders

WINTER PROGRAM

Winter Academy Registration will open Tuesday, September 15th at 9am CST. Registrations will be first come, first serve, and completed through Windy City's website one the homepage & under “REGISTER”

All registration fees are non-refundable after received.

Winter Academy Programs will take place on Saturday & Sundays at NorthShore Sports Center: 1900 Old Willow Rd., Northbrook, IL. Below are the training options:

Winter Middle School Academy Options (MSA), 6th-8th Graders

Option 1: Saturdays 11:00am-1:00pm; Nov 7, 14, 21, Dec 5, 12 & 19

Option 2: Sundays 4:30-6:00pm; Nov 8, 15, 22, Dec 6, 13 & 20

Option 3: Sundays 4:30-6:00pm; Jan 10, 17, 24, 31, Feb 7, 14, 21, & 28

Winter Hight School Academy Options (HSA), 9th-12th Graders

Option 4: Saturdays 11:00am-1:00pm; Nov 7, 14, 21, Dec 5, 12 & 19

Option 5: Sundays 4:30-6:00pm; Nov 8, 15, 22, Dec 6, 13 & 20

Option 6: Sundays 4:30-6:00pm; Jan 10, 17, 24, 31, Feb 7, 14, 21, & 28

Required for all Academy athletes is a Windy City FH Reversible Pinnie. Please visit our online Team Store to place your order for a reversible pinnie along with any other fun club gear for the season!

FEE/REFUND POLICY

Fees are nonrefundable after receipt. Fees vary depending on the Academy class option. Each option is a six-week program with varying times and dates.

WHY ACADEMY VS SELECT?

Academy is a single season commitment. It is focused on the multi-sport athlete who can only commit to one season. We also recommend new high school-aged or middle school-aged players to start with the Academy Program.

Select is a three-season commitment (winter, spring, summer) for the more competitive player looking to play field hockey competitively and locally outside the high school season. Select doesn't involve state-to-state travel. Participation in Select is the means for receiving an invitation to our travel team program for those interested in competing at our elite level.
