2026-2027 Winter Indoor travel team Tryouts
Indoor field hockey is a fast-paced version of the outdoor game played on a smaller indoor court with sideboards that keep the ball in play. Teams play with six players including a goalkeeper, and the game focuses heavily on quick passing, fast decision-making, tight ball control, and speed of play.
Because of the smaller space and continuous action, indoor hockey helps players develop strong technical skills, quick reactions, and creativity under pressure. The game is played with different rules than outdoor hockey, including no hitting — players push the ball instead — which encourages precision and combination play.
Indoor season is a great opportunity for athletes to improve their fundamentals, compete at a high tempo, and continue developing throughout the winter months.

- U14's - Sunday August 23, 2026 9:00-10:30am at Canlan Sports in Libertyville
- U16's - Sunday August 23, 2026 10:30am-12:00pm at Canlan Sports in Libertyville
- U19's - Sunday August 23, 2026 12:00-1:30pm at Canlan Sports in Libertyville
Plan to arrive 10 minutes before your tryout
All athletes are asked to wear a Windy City reversible pinnie. We will have some to borrow.
If named to an Indoor Travel Team, athletes are committing to attend practices and all tournaments. Tournaments are mandatory unless permission to miss is given by the club directors. All requests to miss a tournament must be made before tryouts for excusal consideration. A schedule of tournaments will be listed in advance of tryouts. Training is on Saturdays between 7am-12pm November to February (minus holiday breaks).
A player registration fee will accompany acceptance to a team. All tournaments will have a separate player fee, which will be emailed to all families at the conclusion of each event.
All athletes named to a team will be expected to purchase an Under Armour uniform package for the season. Existing athletes don't need to re-purchase a uniform but can purchase replacement pieces.
