Winter Select Program Details

PROGRAM

Windy City Select is for U14 through U19 players that are more committed to developing their skills and wish to spend more time playing field hockey. Select players may (but don't have to) tryout for the Travel Teams. Select players are required to sign up for three seasons - winter, spring and summer. They may elect to be alternates for the Travel Teams and are not required to attend tournaments unless an opening occurs. This overall yearly program consists of:

WINTER

• Eight, 2.5 hour sessions, January through March at Northwestern on filled turf 
• Eleven, 2 hour sessions, December through March at The Strike Zone on filled turf

SPRING

• Six, 2 hour sessions, March through May at Northwestern University filled turf

SUMMER

• Six, 2 hour sessions, June through July at Northwestern University filled turf

Sessions develop the skills and tactics that are applicable to the 11v11 outdoor game that is played on grass, filled turf and Astroturf.

REGISTRATION

Players who wish to commit to Windy City Select will register for the Winter Program and then again in the Spring for the Spring/Summer Program.

Session 1: U19/U16, Sundays, 7:00am-9:30am; 1/15, 1/29, 2/5, 2/26, 3/3, 3/4, 3/11, 3/17 or 3/18

Session 2: U16/U14, Sundays, 9:15am-11:45am; 1/15, 1/29, 2/5, 2/26, 3/3, 3/4, 3/11, 3/17 or 3/18

Session 3: U16/U14, Sundays, 11:30am-2:00pm; 1/15, 1/29, 2/5, 2/26, 3/3, 3/4, 3/11, 3/17 or 3/18

PLEASE NOTE: There is a possibility that the proposed dates and times at Northwestern University may change subject to their athletic teams needing the facility.

TUESDAY, THURSDAY or FRIDAY TIMES, DATES, AGE GROUPS AT THE STRIKE ZONE

Dates: Week of Nov 28, Dec 5, Dec 12, Jan 2, Jan 9, Jan 16, Jan 23, Jan 30, Feb 13, Feb 20, Feb 27

Day of Week: Weekday practices will be on a Tuesday, Thursday OR Friday. Players may indicate first and second choice for day and efforts will be made to honor those requests if possible.

COACHING STAFF

Windy City Winter Programs are directed and coached by some of the best available coaches, former and current players in the Chicago area and in the USA.

CONFIRMATION

Traditionally Winter Programs fill up very quickly. To determine your confirmation, click on Confirmed Players on the left bar.

As registrations are received, the names of those individuals will appear on the appropriate Winter Program program. Once the program is closed, additional players will go on a wait list and they will be contacted by the Windy City office if there are openings.

Additional confirmation information will be sent via e-mail to all registered players by the end of November.
