Who Does This Apply To?
These guidelines apply to all Coaches, Managers, Directors, Leaders, and Helpers involved in the Windy City Field Hockey Club.
Expected Standards of Behavior
All such individuals involved in Field hockey will at all times respect the spirit of fair play. This is more than playing within the rules. It also incorporates the concepts of friendship, respect for others and always participating with the right spirit.
- Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of others
- Respect umpires, officials, coaches, players and spectators.
- Respect the decisions of officials and teach players to do the same.
- Ensure a sensible balance between performance and the emotional, physical, social, and developmental needs of the players.
- Respect the confidentiality of participants and any relevant data at all times.
- Have the players' best interests at heart at all times.
Coach Conduct
Conduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasonable measures to protect their own safety and the safety of others
- Never participate when under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Ensure that activities carried out by players are suitable for their age and strength.
- Ensure the well being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including performance outcomes.
Reputation of the Sport
Promote the reputation of Field Hockey and take all possible steps to prevent it from being brought into disrepute
- Accept success and failure, victory and defeat with dignity.
- Realize their responsibilities as role models and set positive examples for others, particularly with young players and spectators.
- Set and uphold the boundaries between a working relationship and friendship between themselves and players when in a position of trust.
- Never use foul, sexist, abusive, racist or any prejudicial language or tolerate it from players and/or team officials.
