2010-2011 WINDY CITY SELECT TEAMS WHAT ARE THE WINDY CITY SELECT TEAMS? Windy City Select Teams are travel teams. They are a team of individuals that have been selected to play together and compete for the Windy City Club in several national, regional and local events every year. Players can tryout for the Select Teams during our Winter Club event. The 2010-2011 teams will be announced by e-mail at the completion of Winter Club during the week of March 8, 2010. Those players will continue on to Windy City Spring League. At the completion of Spring League all players will be placed on the first or second team if their attendance was adequate to warrent placement. HOW & WHEN DO I GET SELECTED TO BE ON THESE TEAMS? The first step is to be registered in 2010 Winter Club and attend those sessions. All players will be given the opportunity to tell their team coaches that they wish to tryout at the second session. These players names will be bolded and will then be watched by the coaching staff for the entire time remaining in Winter Club. All coaches on staff have an opportunity and obligation to give input on all players that they coach and observe. The Select Team players will be announced the week of March 8, 2010 following the completion of Winter Club. HOW MANY PLAYERS WILL BE SELECTED? The number of players that are taken for Select Teams are approximate and may vary from year to year based upon the skill level of the players trying out. More or fewer players may be selected at any age group. The following number of field players and 2 GK’s is a guideline for the Windy City staff to follow to begin the selection process:
WHAT IS THE CRITERIA UPON WHICH PLAYERS WILL BE SELECTED? What we are looking for are the best players at Windy City to represent the club at competition. The skills we are looking for are:
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF ALL SELECT TEAM PLAYERS? All Select Team players that are announced at the end of Winter Club in March are required to do the 2010 Spring League for 6 sessions in March, April and May on Sunday evenings. The dates and approximate times for Spring League are: 5th through 7th Grade Dates and Times
8th and 9th Grade Dates and Times
10th through 12th Grade Dates and Times
FINAL SELECTIONS FOR FIRST AND SECOND TEAMS At the end of 2010 Spring League, Windy City will select a first and second team for each year in school. All players in Spring League will be placed on the first or second team if they have had adequate attendance. This announcement will be sent to the Select Team players by e-mail between the dates of May 25 and May 30. The following teams will be selected after Spring League. The four first teams will compete in the USFHA Festival Tournament:
Some events that Windy City attends will require that the players are grouped by age division and those teams will be reconfigured from the Selected Travel Team Players.
